The Right Realtor

Nowadays, almost everything can be done through the internet – banking, bills payment and shopping for shoes, bags, clothing, household items and even house. Yes, you can find that house you have been dreaming about by searching through the internet. It is therefore not surprising if realtors are using the internet to leverage their real estate business.

By going with the trend, they are bringing their business more accessible and closer to people from all walks of life. But with the number of realtors competing to make business with you, finding a competent and trustworthy one can be a daunting task especially if you don’t have that much of an experience.

So how can you find a realtor online whom you can trust? Undeniably, there are many good realtors out there but finding them is not as easy as going through various real estate websites. A beautifully designed website does not constitute a good realtor, neither colorful flyers.

As much as possible, know more about that potential realtor. The best option would be to conduct interviews when you visit the office however if you find that time-consuming, you may prefer to conduct interview on the phone or through email. Check their websites to get contact details such as telephone or mobile number and email. Preparing a list of questions to ask prior the phone interview would be helpful.

Ask reference or recommendations from others. Your next-door neighbor or your friend from another city who have recently bought or sold a property may have a thing or two to share regarding real estate. The power of word-of-mouth, remember?

A good realtor has remarkable communication skills – the one who listens to what you say, considers your opinions and is concerned with your needs. If you have to remind him of your preferences again and again, chances are he has many clients thus he cannot focus on you or he is not really interested with your needs but is only after the commission he can possibly get.

Realtors are expected to help you with the listing or selling of your property. Make sure that you go with someone who will make the process easy for you. Don’t hesitate to contact and ask what you want to know or what bothers you. Good realtors are always there, be it to offer expert advice or do the marketing in your behalf.

One of our favorite villages is Payhembury in Devon. Not only is it picturesque it has all the amenities anyone could want with a church, village hall, pub, shop and school not to mention many clubs and organizations covering many activities for all ages.

Once you found the realtor whom you think is right for you, you might want to consider an agreement, similar to franchise agreement or shareholder agreement, between you and the chosen realtor to set things in order. Through this, disputes and other problems can be prevented later on.

One last tip when it comes to selling, realtors and even potential buyers will assess your property for its value. In other words, a well-maintained house is more preferred than a neglected one with scratches on the walls or broken door knobs. Hence if you are a pet owner, better provide puppy training as soon as possible and continue with dog training as your pet grows to prevent him from developing bad behaviors that could potentially damage your property.
